Emergency management director runs down protocol in case of crude-oil train explosion

A round of presentations for an evacuation plan in the La Crosse area in case a crude oil derails.

Emergency management director Keith Butler will present the plans. All meetings begin at 7 p.m. with the first one tonight.

A meeting for the Goose Island Park area will be scheduled next week.

Here’s the current list:

  • Tonight at Logan Middle School – Grand Crossing neighborhood (I-90 south to Grand Crossing)
  • Thursday: Omni Center – City of Onalaska (Brice Prairie south to I-90)
  • Sept. 16: Logan High School – BNSF expansion area (Grand Crossing to the State Road overhead)
  • Sept. 22: Central High School – Mormon Coulee neighborhood (State Rd. overhead to the Hwy. 14/State Rd. 35 ‘split’)
