Council rejects rescinding I-90 Exit 3 plan

Mayor argues it will impede progress, growth around Rose Street entrance

In the end, the La Crosse city council chose the sure thing.  

Thursday, the council overwhelmingly voted to deny rescinding approval of the DOT’s Interstate-90 Exit-3 interchange plans.  

While many on the council concede that the plans aren’t perfect,  nearly all expressed concern about what funding the state agency might yank from the project if the city backed away from the approval it granted over three years ago.  

The mayor and his staff argued that the DOT’s plan for the city’s Rose Street entrance will impede progress and growth in both neighborhoods and business on the northside
