Kabat, Chilsen spoke at Freedom Walk to remember 9-11

The treatment of law officers and emergency workers in the recent past got some attention during a La Crosse ceremony to remember the September 11 terror attacks.

La Crosse Mayor Tim Kabat said local police have been tested in the last month by incidents of violence.

Onalaska’s mayor, Joe Chilsen, also noted attacks on police in other American communities, and said he doesn’t want to live in a town without police.

The mayors were among the speakers Friday at La Crosse’s Riverside Park, as part of a Freedom Walk to observe the 9-11 anniversary.
