City won’t take immediate action on homeless sleeping on church property

Wesley Methodist is said to be breaking several La Crosse ordinances allowing campers

For now, La Crosse will remain mum on its attempts to have the Wesley United Methodist Church stop homeless people from camping out its property.

After sending the church a letter explaining that they are breaking several city ordinances by allowing campers, one councilman says since lawyers are now involved, the city cannot say anything.

But interim pastor, Reverend Forrest Clark said they are doing nothing wrong by giving the homeless a place to sleep. Clark has already sought advice from the Wisconsin Methodist Conference and an attorney is now involved in the matter.
