Whistle blowers want Raymond Burke investigated

A La Crosse bishop is one of two from the Midwest being targeted in an investigation within the church for failing to crack down on abuse.

A committee of Catholic whistle-blowers wants the Pope and a Vatican tribunal to examine the policies toward abuse that existed when Cardinal Raymond Burke was Bishop in La Crosse more than a decade ago. 

Father James Connell of Milwaukee has disputed claims by the La Crosse Diocese that the number of local priests facing abuse accusations was much lower than the national average of four percent.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk."
