Don’t be convinced the last word is in on the health benefits of coffee

A new study will likely emerge next month on the relative merits of having a few cups of the world’s most popular beverage.

If you want to keep it simple, drink up to five eight-ounce cups, says Gundersen Health System nutritionist, Valerie Pampuch and you’ll be OK.

She says as long as you’re drinking black coffee – with minimial creamer and sugar – the health benefits of coffee will still help you. Go beyond five cups, she says, and the health impacts start to turn negative.

The very latest of the latest studies on coffee has just been released in the last several few days. The small study reports drinking even a small amount of coffee hours before bed can disrupt your so-called ‘internal clock,’ making you lose sleep.
