Wisconsin group loves Pope’s “nudging” of congress
Pope’s message loved and hated between parties
How you felt about the pope speaking in congress on Thursday may depend on where you sit.
Democrats and republicans appear to be seeing things very differently, especially on the Pope espousing actions on global warming, poverty and immigration policies.
But Madeleine Para, with Wisconsin Citizens Climate Lobby, cherishes the overall message of urging the United States to lead.
“Like simultaneously kind of nudging us forward,” she said, “and holding us to a bigger vision. I just think he did a beautiful job.”
Para believes the Pope’s visit to the U.S., along with his address to congress, will convince skeptics to increasingly follow the pontiff’s call to action.
