UW-L locks out dorm guests during Oktoberfest
Third year ruling has been in place
The chancellor says it’s all in the name of safety.
Locking down the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse dorms to weekend guests during Oktoberfest (Friday-Sunday).
UW-L Chancellor Joe Gow says they can control what happens on campus but not off. And, for the third year, students cannot have guests during that time.
Over the past few years, Oktoberfest has brought the worst out in some people. Like those who thought flipping cars and throwing dead squirrels on the UW-L campus was part of the celebration – situations that were blamed on students. Situations that have led to the lockdown.
Gow says he has hoped for years those situations were not cast back on the campus. Some still says, ‘Yes they were students.’
