City spent $500k to repair Bliss Road in 2007, ’08

Grandad Bluff might need more repair work next year, near Bliss Road.

A La Crosse city council committee has given first approval to authorize a new study of the road and the land around it. The study would cost around $40,000.

La Crosse spent half-a-million dollars repairing Bliss Road on Grandad Bluff, after heavy rains and mudslides in 2007 and 2008.

Bliss Road was shut down for long periods of time after landslides nearly a decade ago.

Assistant public works director Bob Haines says the newest damage to the slope was discovered back in May, but Bliss Road was not affected.
