Frac sand ban not happening in Houston County
Planning commission will ask board to reject the ban
The latest idea for banning the frac-sand business in Houston County had a short life.
About 100 people attended a hearing in Caledonia, Minn., last week, mostly to support a plan to block fracking-related activity in the county.
But, after a four-hour session, the county planning commission said it would ask the full county board to reject the ban.
That decision apparently convinced the anti-mining activists that their new plan wasn’t going anywhere.
At today’s Houston County Board meeting, a mining opponent was set to withdraw the request for new sand mining rules.
