Property tax rate in La Crosse likely to decrease next year
Though the savings may just be a few hundred dollars
More good news for property taxpayers in La Crosse.
The city’s planned budget next year is expected to translate into a slightly lower rate for taxpayers, along with those in the Western Technical College district.
The La Crosse county government is aiming at staying at the same rate as last year. And now, the La Crosse school district, finalizing its budget plan at a meeting this week, will have a slightly lower tax rate.
All of that combined, however, might not mean much to the average taxpayer, who may save just a few dollars for the year overall.
The projected tax rates for all four local governments, for a taxpayer living in a median value house ($121,500), can expect a property tax bill of about $3,400 for 2016.
