Department responded to 1,177 calls
The La Crosse Police Dept. just sent out a short recap of its activities during Oktoberfest 2015.
The police responded to 1,177 calls, most due to alcohol, noise or driving complaints.
An additional 55 officers – 38 State Troopers – were brought into town for the festivities.
The Third Street aid station, in its ninth year, helped numerous people, including 830 safe ride requests and 62 cell phone charges.
The only serious incident involved an officer being assaulted while patrolling campus
The officer was going to give a UW-Madison student an open-intoxicant warning. Instead, the student shoved the cop to the ground, which, of course, led to a trip to jail from along with felony and misdemeanor charges.
