Business donates fridge for Hamilton school’s pantry

Hard to keep food cold without a refrigerator, which made for some rough going at a La Crosse school food pantry until a local appliance store stepped in with a big donation.

The fridge at Hamilton Elementary’s food pantry went offline before the school year started. That pantry serves about 70 families and the fridge allows those families to get stuff like milk, eggs and yogurt.

Wettstein’s has donated a new refrigerator for the pantry. Owner Dan Wettstein’s wife, Gerianne, taught at the school for 20 years.
