Cops track down 17, arrest 9 in meth trafficking ring

Drugs trafficked from Mexico to Twin Cities to La Crosse

High-grade meth made in Mexico has been flowing into the La Crosse area for several years.

Now, area police have tracked down 17 people involved in trafficking that meth, with nine in custody as of this morning. Tom Johnson, leader of the MEG Unit drug squad in the La Crosse region, says this meth is a lot better quality than the home-cooked variety.

Johnson says the new arrests have disrupted the meth trade between La Crosse and the Twin Cities…but he expects the ringleaders to find new dealers to replace the ones just captured.
