Winona murder suspects were after money, knew victim had it

Last murder in city happened 11 years ago

The suspects in a Winona murder may not have known the victim, but they apparently knew he had money.

Police are still searching for two black men accused of shooting Adam Fort, after trying to get money from him. Fort died on Sunday, shortly after being shot once in the abdomen at his apartment.

Winona Deputy Police Chief Tom Williams says the last premeditated murder in the city happened 11 years ago. 

Police don’t know whether the two men are still in the area. They did take some money from Fort’s apartment.
