Internal investigation puts two La Crosse cops on leave
Mayor says leave is not punishment
An internal investigation has led to two La Crosse police officers getting put on paid leave.
Mayor Tim Kabat says the leave is not disciplinary in nature, and that the investigation has something to do with workplace environment concerns from one of the officers.
“There’s been some concerns or allegations or issues raised and, based on those, we felt it was important to get to the bottom of those issues,” Kabat said.
Interim Green Bay police chief Jim Lewis has been leading the investigation for the last several weeks.
Kabat would not comment further on the nature of the complaints raised by officer Nathan Poke. He and officer Dan Uhlrich – also on leave – are the Washburn Neighborhood Response Officers.
A final report on the investigation could come in the next few days.
