Packers give Logan High grant for new turf

The new Swanson Field at the
high school could be ready by fall

New synthetic turf is coming to La Crosse Logan High’s Swanson field helped, in part, by a grant from the Green Bay Packers through an NFL foundation.

The grant, for $200,000, will help Logan install the turf as part of a larger, long range refurbishment plan for Swanson Field. Coach Casey Knoble believes the turf will be ready for the start of next season. The hope is to replace the bleachers and the press box, as well, but the field, itself, is the top priority.

Logan is one of just a few recipients of similar grants made nationwide this year by the NFL Foundation and totaling $2.5 million.

Fundraising to refurbish Swanson Field complex has been ongoing for the past six years. The school has raised around $700,000, before the Packers grant.
