Xcel says gas bills should go down 20-25%
Unless, of course, it’s a cold, cold winter
You may be able to look forward to a lower heating bill this winter.
Xcel Energy’s Liz Wolf Green says that may be the case for gas customers.
The company’s projecting heating bills 20-25 percent lower than last year for residential customers. That means the customer who paid $665 to heat over the five-month season last year will pay just $500 this year.
Wolf Green says, because those projections are based on what’s expected to be a near-normal winter in temperatures, should it get really cold for long spells, those savings might go up in smoke.
