Long-time alderman, Bernard Maney dead at 87

Maney was on La Crosse’s city council in the 60s

He served on the La Crosse City Council in the 1960s, and came back to city hall in the 90s.

Long-time alderman Bernard Maney was 87 when he died Tuesday at a nursing home in La Crosse. Maney was elected to six terms from the south side of La Crosse, adding up to more than 20 years on the council before retiring in 2011.

He also ran for mayor in the 2005 primary election.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
