University in first phase of Education Village proposal

Winona State University officials got to show off a major project to lawmakers Tuesday night, a bonding project that will come into play this session.

Senator Jeremy Miller said Minnesota governor Mark Dayton recommended over $5 million for funding the first phase of the Education Village proposal, while asking for another $25 million .

In total, about 90,000 square feet of space would be created to house, what university leaders say would become a 21st century model of educating teachers.

So far, the plan has enjoyed strong support at the Capitol.
