Consultant Ram Charan spoke at UW-L

Author spoke as part of school’s
yearly series in memory of Russ Cleary

He meets with CEOs all over the planet.

Wednesday, community leaders and students got some advice from consultant and author Ram Charan.

A day after returning from Turkey, Charan was speaking on the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. He said he gave up research posts and other prestigious jobs at major universities, because he’d rather be out in the field, consulting.

One of Charan’s best known books, The Attacker’s Advantage, talks about successful business people who know when to capitalize on a good situation.

He’s the first guest lecturer in a new yearly series at UW-L, named in memory of former Heileman Brewery chairman Russ Cleary.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
