As I See It

Wisconsin lawmakers providing quite a fright

With Halloween fast approaching, our lawmakers in Madison continue to provide quite a fright. It is downright scary what our lawmakers are considering priorities, as they work to ram their pet legislation through. Our roads continue to crumble, and we haven’t figured out a good way to pay for them. But the politicians continue to put their focus elsewhere. Like blaze pink. Legislation being considered would allow hunters to wear blaze pink, not just blaze orange in the field. I haven’t heard anyone say this is an important issue, other than our lawmakers. Dismantling the Government Accountability Board is their number one agenda, and they appear well on their way to doing that. They also are pushing legislation to allow politicians to accept more campaign money, without having to tell us where the money is coming from, and who they are beholden to. Again, I haven’t heard any citizens say this is an important issue to them which will make their lives better. The same is true of efforts to change election laws by getting rid of special deputies who help register people to vote. Ask any average Joe and I doubt this is important to them. Lawmakers are also working to pass legislation which would allow people to legally carry switchblades. For whom is this important? Our leigslators sure are keeping busy this session, but it doesn’t seem they are focusing on the things really important to the people of Wisconsin.
