Halloween lights come down, Rotary Lights going up

Riverside Park decorations open day after Thanksgiving

As Halloween decorations are starting to come down, you can already see Christmas lights on at night in La Crosse’s Riverside Park.

Preparation in the park for Rotary Lights began over a week ago, and the warm, sunny conditions Sunday may have helped make the process faster, according to Rotary Lights president Pat Stephens.

In reality, the Rotary crews spread out the work in the park through November. The official opening is the night after Thanksgiving, though Stephens jokes that they still have last-minute touches to make on the night of the lighting ceremony each year.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
