Wisconsin bill could legalize switchblades
Group called Knife Rights feels knives get bad rap from 50s movies
MADISON, Wis. – Soon, the state senate should vote on a bill that would remove restrictions to owning and carrying knives, like switchblades.
Todd Rathner, from the group Knife Rights, has been pushing hard to get the bill passed in Wisconsin and ones like it in many other states because the antiquated restrictions arbitrarily restrict those types of knives.
“It just makes sense for people to own the type of knife they want to own,” said Rathner, who added that switchblade laws on the books now in Wisconsin, and in many other states, stem from hysteria over fictional switchblade fights portrayed in 1950’s movies.

He says the knife restricting laws seem particularly arbitrary when you consider that most knife crimes are committed with kitchen knives.
The state assembly has already passed the measure to remove restrictions on switchblades.
