Community session on sexual orientation and gender ID tonight
Meeting is open to public, will take
place at Three Rivers House in La Crosse
The second community listening session held by La Crosse’s Human Rights Commission seeks more voices on a different topic.
The first dealt with discrimination relating to the city’s black population. Tonight the focus is on issues relating to sexual orientation and gender identity.
Will Van Roosenbeek is on the commission and sees great value in the sessions.
“It’s good information to know, so when we do want to move forward with something,” Van Roosenbeek said. “We can express some of the concerns expressed (at the listening sessions).”
And, in that way, Van Roosenbeek added, find ways to address discrimination more effectively.
Tonight’s session goes from 6-8 p.m. at the Three Rivers House on Main Street next to the library.
Van Roosenbeek says the event is open to the public and all are welcome to speak.
