Partnership developing local housing

A new house on La Crosse’s south side represents the first partnership between the city government and private business to develop local housing. 

The house built on Mississippi Street replaces an older residence that was torn down.

Chris and Penny Warren (right) have moved into the new house with their two daughters, and Penny thinks it will be good for La Crosse.  

Spies Const. agreed to put up the new house, at the city’s request. Until this project, previous houses built by the city of La Crosse had been done in partnership with Western Technical College or specific organizations.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
