Korean War vets looking for donations for monument
Spot has been picked,
association now just needs $3,000
Some veterans are still waiting for a memorial in La Crosse.
Korean war vets don’t have a memorial for the ones who didn’t make it back from that forgotten war.
Louie Ferris is out to change that. He’s the vice president of the Korean War Veterans Association locally and has plans for a monument in Riverside Park.
“We feel like we’re the lucky ones who made it back,” Ferris said. “We don’t want to forget the ones who didn’t make it back.”
The city’s park board has approved a spot for the monument in Riverside Park. Ferris is working to raise close to $3,000 by spring for the memorial. Ferris said he’d be happy to collect that in $5-$10 increments.
If you wish to donate, send a check made out to the Korean War Veterans Association and send it to Louie Ferris, 1519 George St., La Crosse, WI, 54603.
