Bureau plans approved last month

It looks like a pretty clear path toward the formation of a regional tourism bureau for the La Crosse area.

Two communities approved the proposal Tuesday, and others are supposed to weigh in over the next few days.

Onalaska Mayor Joe Chilsen says even though the plan was greeted positively by his city council this week, he was still worried about whether it would pass.

Plans for the La Crosse County Convention Bureau were announced last month, after about two years of negotiations between local governments. The organization is expected to open in January.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area.
