Onalaska approves city admin position
Mayor’s job becomes more ceremonial
Only three months after the mayor of Onalaska suggested hiring a city administrator, the city council there has approved the idea.
Onalaska mayor Joe Chilsen believes the city government will become more efficient run by a full-time administrator rather than by a mayor up for election every four years. The mayor’s job now becomes more ceremonial.
In exchange for approving the position of administrator, the Onalaska council has eliminated the job of land use and development director held by Brea Grace.
