Willow Heights subdivision approved, despite votes against
Council member says 100-acre
development will be bad for La Crosse
Despite effort from some in La Crosse city hall to squeeze concessions from the town of Shelby before allowing a high-end development to move forward just outside city limits, that development appears to be a go.
Thursday night, the La Crosse city council agreed to the final plan for the 100-plus-acre Willow Heights subdivision on the site of the old Irish Hills golf course.
City council member Bob Seaquist was among the five on the council voting against the development
What we will have is expensive development there,” Seaquist said. “That will be fine for the school district, fine for the county but poor for the city of La Crosse.”
Seaquist added the high-end development will essentially raise property taxes in the city of La Crosse and lower them in the town of Shelby.
