CBS’s Portnoy on road, after Carson

The life of a reporter during the presidential candidacy debates can be difficult.

First, there’s the life on the road, as CBS radio’s Steven Portnoy talked about being in Milwaukee, Wis., on Tuesday before heading to Iowa for the weekend.

Portnoy said he’s been living on the road during much of the debate season. He’s preparing to spend a few days in Iowa to ask about Ben Carson.

Portnoy will grab hours of comments about a candidate and condense that into just 30-second sports for newscasts.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
