Mutual aid agreement will help Campbell police

Chief says it will enhance safety

When police in one area community need assistance from another town, or would like to conduct an investigation outside their borders, it sometimes has to formally ask permission.

But some La Crosse area governments are now involved in mutual aid agreements.

Next month, the La Crosse city council will vote on a pact with the town of Campbell, which could make the job of Campbell police chief Drew Gavrilos a bit easier.

Gavrilos says he doesn’t consider the agreement an ‘overreach’ by La Crosse into Campbell business, but an arrangement that enhances safety for police officers.
