One section of La Crosse is excluded from alternate side parking
One area slipped through
because of failed experiment
While alternate-side parking is in effect in La Crosse, that’s surprisingly not the case everywhere.
A large section of the city is not governed by alternate-side parking rules. It’s the same section around the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse that was part of a multi-year experiment to institute emergency-only, alternate-side parking.
It was largely regarded as a failed experiment. The alternate-side parking exclusion zone was rescinded two years ago by the city, yet somehow never made it off the books. The city council will vote next month to permanently do away with the exclusion zone.
