Abortion law could go to Supreme Court
Right to Life says admitting privileges essential
On to the Supreme Court, that’s the hope of Wisconsin Right to Life.
The state’s law requiring admitting privileges at nearby hospitals for abortion providers was struck down this week by an appeals court.
Right to Life’s Chelsea Shields says such a requirement is essential.
“These laws,” Shields said, “provide basic protections for women should abortion complications happen.”
But appeals judges says the requirements actually would endanger the health of those seeking abortion.
Other states have adopted similar requirements. The US Supreme Court has agreed to hear a case challenging a similar law in Texas.
