West Salem schools staff discusses array of issues

One problem: too many students, not enough room

Conversations will continue on another possible referendum in West Salem.

Staff and school officials met last week to talk about a few different things, including why two ballot measures failed back-to-back. Discussions also included the results of a resident survey and where to put all the students.

The consensus is that the district needs to move fifth graders into the middle school and, to do that means a significant renovation and expansion of the existing middle school building.
