Vote tonight on raise for La Crosse city clerk
Raise would increase pay to $72,500
There’s expected to be more support for the latest pay increase proposal in La Crosse city hall.
This one is for the city clerk – an elected position like the mayor. And, like the mayor, one for which pay increases only sporadically. It’s a situation which needs changing, says city council member Gary Padesky.
“Not saying you have to overdo things,” Padesky said, “but, why not treat them fairly and give them an appropriate pay raise?”
While mayor Tim Kabat has vetoed a raise proposal for his position a couple of times, he has said he would support the clerk’s pay increase if passed by the council.
A council committee votes on the proposal at a meeting tonight. Currently, the city clerk makes a bit more than $70,000. The proposed increase would be to $72,500.
