City hoping someone will restore old Buzz’s Bike Shop

La Crosse has already invested $300,000

There’s a 19th-century building in La Crosse that city hall would like to see restored.

The city has put out a request for proposals on the restoration of the old Buzz’s Bike shop on Rose Street.

Whomever decides to take on the project will have to buy it and redevelop it.

Also, maybe, don’t ask for any help for the city – there’s already over $300,000 invested in the former Exchange State Bank, built in 1887, including the $85,000 the city paid for the shop back in March. So, asking for grants or loans might not help your cause.

The hope is that a developer will turn the building into some kind of office, commercial or residential space. Proposals are due in late January.
