Plans evolve to bring back Myrick Park Zoo

Group is now a non-profit

They’re getting really serious about bringing back the zoo now. 

Bring Back the Old Myrick Park is now an official non-profit agency. 

Organizers have a long-range plan of bringing back a zoo to Myrick Park in La Crosse, and they’re working on specific steps on making that happen, but with the general idea of turning back the clock a little. 

“That’s part of our mission, to bring back those memories like we had when we were kids,” Dawn Marie Noling with the zoo group said.

One of the goals for whatever form the zoo eventually takes is to charge no admission. The zoo didn’t have admission in the past, Noling said. She added that the group, which started as a Facebook campaign in the spring, is still at the beginning stages of planning the zoo comeback as a non-profit.

“We’re still in the process of getting our business plan together,” Noling said, adding they’ll get all of that work done before making a formal presentation to enlist support from city hall.
