Five seats have
contested races already

La Crosse County might need a February primary for at least one county board race.

Three candidates are gathering signatures in the 21st district, around Onalaska. Daniel Hanson and Amber Hackman both plan to run against long-time supervisor Vicki Burke.

Five county board districts have contested races so far, with challengers emerging against both Steve Doyle and Nancy Stoll Caucutt.

There was controversy last year when Caucutt was appointed to a seat that opened up just after the election, and the board decided to let her serve a full two-year term without a special election.

Every seat on the board is up for election.  The filing deadline is in the first week of January.
