Iverson-Freking Award winners named
Ashley, Donaldson recipients
of award in its 30th year
One is a Baptist clergyman, the other is a nun, and the two are this year’s winners of the Iverson-Freking Award in La Crosse.
They share similar attitudes toward community service and respect for each other.
At a news conference Tuesday, Pastor Timothy Ashley of First Baptist Church said volunteering helps people work together, breaking down stereotypes. Sister Bridget Donaldson of Holmen, Wis., said people should get together to use their gifts and talents.
The two award winners for 2016 will be honored at the Iverson-Freking luncheon at the Radisson on January 20.
This is the 30th year of the award presented by the Bethany-St. Joseph Corp., to promote volunteers who set a spiritual example.
The award is in memory of Lutheran businessman Carl Iverson and Catholic Bishop Frederick Freking.
