La Crosse P.D. offers free training

Whether it’s being caused by terror attacks or news of other mass shootings, there certainly has been more interest in being prepared locally.

That, according to La Crosse police training lieutenant Troy Nedegaard

“There has been an ongoing, increased demand for assistance,” Nedegaard said, “as far as educating individuals on the threat of an active shooter.”

Nedegaard teaches businesses and other organizations about how to deal with active shooters using the ADD method, which stands for ‘avoid, deny, defend.’

It’s a slightly more engaged and updated twist on the old run-hide-fight plan. The active-shooter training offered by the La Crosse Police Dept. is free.
