One gets 10 months for attacking police, another’s bond is set at $100k

A Sparta, Wis., man who jumped onto a La Crosse police car and slammed his head into the windshield will spend almost a year in prison.

Jacob Olsen has been sentenced to 10 months in jail, for attacking an officer during a rampage in downtown La Crosse last August.

At sentencing Wednesday, Olsen admitted to drinking heavily at the time of the incident, and said he experienced mental health problems after his father had a stroke.

Judge Todd Bjerke says Olsen was out of control and ignored attempts at treatment, and he needs to reflect on his behavior while he’s in prison.

The shooting suspect arrested in La Crescent, Minn., on Monday night has made his first court appearance in Houston County.

Robert Albrecht is facing five criminal counts for causing bodily harm to another person, and for reckless use of a weapon.

He claims he unintentionally shot a visitor to his apartment, after drinking and allegedly threatening to kill himself. The unidentified shooting victim is hospitalized at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse.

The bond is set at $100,000 with conditions for Albrecht, who’s due back in court Monday.
