Don’t forget to shovel out your garbage carts
If carts aren’t cleared,
trucks won’t pick up
Obviously, you were digging your car out of the snow this morning to get to wherever it is you were going.
But, did you think about your garbage carts? Not that they’re going anywhere, but that’s precisely the point. The trucks can’t get to them either.
Today, the city of La Crosse’s recycling coordinator Brandon Shea is complaining about the problems garbage trucks are having getting to snowed-in garbage carts.
Shea has warned that carts that are heavily plowed in won’t be emptied until the next collection day – and only if the snow has been cleared out around them.
Essentially, if you put your carts out last night and they got plowed in, that’s your problem.
The 9.5 inches that fell on La Crosse is the most significant snowfall the city has had since moving to the cart system nearly two years ago.
