La Crosse park reservations for 2016 begin at 5 a.m.

For those planning a summer wedding or company picnic in a La Crosse city park, make your reservation today.

The first business day of 2016 is, of course, your best shot of securing your reservation.

The city park and rec department begins taking shelter bookings at 5 a.m. Walk-in reservations will start at 8:30 a.m., followed by phone reservations at 9 a.m..

Patti Brown from the park office says wedding dates tend to get spread out through the year, so many weddings are likely to be scheduled in the parks during the fall.

Riverside, Myrick and Pettibone shelters usually go the fastest. Brown says if you can’t get through on your first attempt, keep trying.
