Mayor looking close at study that could save taxpayers money
UW-L study focuses on
combining government services
La Crosse’s mayor apparently isn’t content to allow a study about government overlap to gather dust on a shelf.
The recent report from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse found massive taxpayer savings could be had through combining government services in areas like libraries, parks and police.
Now, mayor Tim Kabat has hurriedly added a measure to the city council agenda this month that calls for a $50,000 study to develop a revenue-sharing program and identify appropriate fees.
The study conducted by UW-L last year found combining services could save property taxpayers hundreds of dollars per year.
