2015 saw 303 divorces
in La Crosse County

The first business day of the year, it has become a popular day for divorces.

Some attorneys claim it’s either as part of a New Year’s resolution or something that was delayed until after the holidays.

The trend, however, is becoming a thing of the past, according to La Crosse attorney Ellen Frantz from Johns, Flaherty & Collins, SC. Frantz believes that’s because you now see more two-income households with wives less dependent on a husband’s income.

In 2015, 303 filed for divorces in La Crosse County – 27 in January. March saw the most divorces (33), while November had the least (16), last year. In the past four years, the most divorces in the county came in 2012 (357).
