Local waters freezing will
help 30th Winter Rec Fest

The arrival of real winter weather may not please many people around here, but it’s good news for organizers of La Crosse’s Winter Rec Fest.

The ground is still covered with snow, and more ice is forming on the local waters. Since the festival doesn’t actually start until the Jan. 22, Jared Flick from the city parks and rec. dept. hopes that the cold can remain for a little while.

The medallion hunt for the 30th Rec Fest begins Wednesday. This year’s medallion has a design of people playing curling, designed by a Logan High School student.
