La Crosse city council to vote on $200,000 northside plan
A plan not everyone agrees on
This week, La Crosse’s city council will vote on spending $200,000 on north side development.
Not everyone in city hall is supportive of a comprehensive plan for a Highway 53 corridor on the north side, however.
City council member Martin Gaul thinks there’s a better way to use the city’s limited planning resources.
“I think that we’re rushing into this process,” Gaul said. “I don’t believe any damage is going to be done by delaying this for awhile.”
Gaul says, with multiple planning and development projects going on currently, this latest project could stress already overburdened city staff and others involved.
The plan would mostly center on the Hwy. 53 corridor from the Interstate 90-exit interchange to the La Crosse River, although proponents of the planning process believe the impact will be on an area much larger than that.
