Old Buzz’s Bike shop roof repairs estimates coming soon
City already has $300,000
invested in building
Price estimates for repairing the roof of the old Buzz’s Bikes building on the north side should be in within days.
The city-owned property on Rose Street likely has tens of thousands of dollars in coming repairs for a roof that’s in shambles.
In general, the 19th-century building needs plenty of help and the city has already sunk $300,000 into it, along with the connected masonic temple.
City planner Jason Gilman defends the expenditures.
“The idea is to preserve a piece of north side La Crosse history,” said Gilman, who envisions the former bank building becoming a centerpiece of economic development for the surrounding area.
He admits that, if the decision on the building were based solely on dollars and cents, it likely would be demolished.
