DES MOINES, Iowa – As of 1:30 a.m., three tickets have matched the Powerball jackpot of $1.5 billion. Those tickets were bought in California, Tennessee and Florida.

Though nobody in the midwest, at this point, has won the jackpot, a single ticket worth $2 million was purchased in Iowa and five tickets, each worth $1 million, were bought in Michigan.

Had just one person won, the lump-sum payment would have been $930 million. But, after federal taxes, that person would have been left with “just” $561.7 million – as long as they were a U.S. citizen.

Heading into the drawing, where the odds of winning were 1 in 292.2 million and nearly 86 percent of the number combinations had been selected.

Had no one matched all of the numbers drawn (4-8-19-27-34 and Powerball 10), lottery officials said the next jackpot would have reached $2 billion.
